Aloha and Welcome to my Musical Creations!

Mele A’e TV Performance

My musics is about Being the Light!

My music is about Being the Light! In the past, I have written those other songs about unrequited love, business vultures, the environment, lost opportunities, painful memories, and social disconnect , injustice, and disruption, but I don’t feel or focus on that anymore. I have chosen to be happy. I know what I focus on expands, so I have made a commitment to Be and Celebrate the Light! I want to enjoy the Light, have fun, soar, and shine the Light on myself and others. People often ask me, “What does that mean, to “Be the Light“? For me the easiest analogy to illustrate that, is to watch what happens when a baby comes into a room. Most times, people gravitate to the baby as it often seems to be in bliss, delight, and joy. Yet that baby has not had all the external experiences that we are all striving for, thinking it will make us happy: the baby hasn’t experienced being in love, has no money or possessions, and no successes…..(well, except for escaping the mother’s nine month water balloon!). The baby is just Happy. (We all have our own path to learn how to reconnect to that internal happiness when we open our heart, but it so valuable to know that Happiness for that baby didn’t come from anything external.) That is the internal bliss and happiness I chose and celebrate to keep my heart open and “Be the Light”!

Here are the lyrics to “I Found Love Inside of Me” which tells the story of my evolution to “Being the Light”!

I Found Love Inside Of Me

Verse 1
Waiting a lifetime for someone who hears before I speak
Someone who lights a candle so the darkness will retreat.
Someone who reaches for my hand,
someone who loves me as I am.

chorus 1:

Then, my mirror beamed that I’m the one,
oh, I found love.
Then, light guided me to be the sun,
oh, I found love.
Then my eyes opened wide to see,
oh, I found love inside of me.

verse 2
My open heart leads me, on a path that’s all my own
A journey I have chosen, no longer alone.
When the sun sets, I wrap my arms around,
the me, I finally found.

Chorus 2
Now my mirror beams that I’m the one, oh, I found love.

Now, light guides me to be the sun, oh, I feel love.

Now my eyes open wide to see,
oh I found love inside of me

Bridge:
I”ll be my Love through the shadows of the night,
I’ll always be here knowing,
I AM the Light

Chorus 3

Now my mirror beams that I’m the one, oh, I found love.
Now, light guides me to be the sun, oh, I know love.

Now my eyes open wide to see
oh, I found love inside of me.

My Path to Singing and Songwriting:

I always loved singing and music, and have been singing since I was a child.  A special Thanks goes to my mother for bribing me with a pony as a child if I would practice piano daily, and then also having the opportunity to sing at home, church, school chorus, swing choir, and play trumpet/ French horn in band at school. I remember the day I could finally figured out as a child, how to harmonize, and I was so excited.  I taught myself some guitar basics, on the guitar we had at home. Then, later in my high school years, a special creative writing teacher inspired me to start writing songs on my guitar, and I was hooked! I initially started writing songs to reflect my life and spiritual path, and also wrote songs for friends, weddings, and inspired moments.

Later after college, I started to sing, perform, and play in bands in Honolulu. At first, we needed to play covers to get gigs at clubs and events. I so enjoyed singing and performing in several bands. But, my heart was bursting with my own lyrical messages, and I started writing again. My original songs were often reflecting my growth as a young woman, observing friends and life, and social commentary of what was happening in the world. I connected with other musicians that were also writing, and we were able to start performing originals, along with covers, as a band.

As my songwriting and performing evolved, I was able to record my original songs in Honolulu, the Big Island, and also in L.A. a couple times.  I produced a full length CD, and a couple of CD singles.  I received radio airplay for a few of my originals in Hawaii and on the Mainland, created a music video, and also signed a French publishing contract in Paris, for one of my songs.

My Present Bliss:

However, the most exciting part of my musical path is happening for me right now. I am writing songs that are reflecting my evolution of my own personal path, my own awakening of realizing that we all have a light with in us, and that true happiness is found when we open our hearts and Connect with this Light. (Yes, we can all enjoy fantastic relationships, fantastic careers, big homes, fancy cars, extravagant lifestyles, tons of money, exciting events and travel, unique experiences, and great successes…….. and I do hope we all experience these delights. However, the joy they first bring is often fleeting, right? We are usually asking not too long after acquiring them, now what? So, if we think that something or someone outside us will finally bring us our own lasting happiness, we may be in for quite a let down.

So, for me, I am Connecting to and Being the Light within me. (You could call it whatever feels comfortable for you:  spiritual connection, self-love, self-empowerment, opening and loving your Heart,  or just a simple process of Choosing to be Happy, regardless of our circumstances!)  I’m celebrating it, practicing being it, sharing it, singing about it, shining it, and loving it on my path to finding more Bliss!

Aloha,
Rashelle
